It has been a challenging and rewarding past few months interning at JMG Public Relations. I was so excited to start my internship with JMG PR, since this was my first time working with a PR agency. This internship was a fully remote position due to the corona virus pandemic, however, Jenna and Frances did everything they could to make it feel more like an in-person experience with their warm welcome.

In place of mid-day coffee runs or lunch breaks we got to know each other over several zoom meetings, sip the tea’s (where we would take a 15-minute break to catch up on the latest celebrity gossip), slack messages and emails.

Being the JMG social media intern was exciting! I got to create awesome content, connect and engage with their 14.8K followers, and work on client Instagram accounts. One of my favorite parts about the internship was posting interactive Instagram stories throughout the semester and really getting to know the JMG audience. I posted various Instagram bingos, themed trivias, this or that polls, thought provoking questions, and behind the scenes PR content. Each post was a way for me to build that relationship with our audience.

In addition to my social media duties, I also worked with the team on side PR projects for the agency. Sometimes they would involve building out a media list, drafting pitches, creating competitive analysis research, and working with non-profit organizations. One of the big projects that I worked on this semester was spearheading our non-profit partnership with organization Knock Knock Give A Sock. KKGS is a local NYC charity that gives socks to those experiencing homelessness in the city throughout the year. I worked with KKGS to create a virtual sock drive to benefit those in need. I helped create the campaign on Instagram promoting our sock drive through the purchase of JMG PR sock merch, for every sock purchased from our website we donated a pair to KKGS. At the end of the campaign we were able to donate over 200 pairs of socks to a great cause and I found that very rewarding.

Overall, I had a great time interning for JMG PR and learned so much about being apart of a PR agency and how it takes teamwork to make things happen. I can’t thank Jenna and Frances enough for their support and guidance through the entire process and was lucky to have such an amazing opportunity!
