Intern Diary: Amy

I first learned about JMG during my junior year's spring semester. Jenna spoke at one of my PRSSA chapter meetings, and I loved her story so much that I kept JMG in the back of my mind until it was time to apply for my senior internships. I made sure to keep up with their Instagram page, and less than a year later, I received a position as a Social Media and PR intern at JMG.

I am so thankful for the amazing opportunity to work with and learn from some truly wonderful people, and to have this experience. The people at JMG, especially my account supervisor Arcely, have really helped me grow professionally. I was so lucky to have my little Hannah Montana moment and get the best of both worlds, experiencing both the PR and social media aspects of working at JMG. I learned how to use MuckRack to create media lists and helped draft and send pitch emails to clients' media lists.

Social media, however, is where I spent most of my time. I loved learning all the different tricks and shortcuts in Canva from Arcely and creating posts and story graphics for multiple accounts. I especially enjoyed coming up with content ideas and researching topics for JMG posts like “Cowboy Core,” “Bridgerton and PR,” and “Soft Skills to Add to Your Resume.” Where I really thrived was editing videos, so I loved getting the chance to work on my video editing skills by creating reels and videos.

I loved getting to chat with the rest of the interns and account executives more casually during the few Sip the Tea meetings I could join. I was happy to get to know everyone and make those connections, especially since my internship was remote and I did not get a chance to meet everyone in person.

As my time with JMG comes to a close, I really cherish the moments I’ve had with such amazing and talented individuals. I am so thankful for this opportunity that Jenna has given me, and for all the knowledge and help that Arcely provided.

I feel so fortunate to have been even a small part of this amazing agency. I wish I didn’t have to leave so soon! 🥹
