Intern Diary: Bella

Reflecting on the past four months of my internship at JMG Public Relations, I am filled with profound gratitude for the experiences I've had. The journey has been transformative, both personally and professionally, and I owe it all to the incredible people I've encountered. When I casually applied for the social media intern position at JMG this fall, little did I know how impactful this opportunity would become.

I was hearing great things about this internship at my university through a classmate, who is now the President for PRSA National. When the Fall internship application opened, I impulsively submitted my resume, hoping for the best. The swift response and interview invitation from Jenna, the acceptance, and meeting my super cool supervisor, Alexandra, all contributed to a smooth start to my internship.

Crafting stories for the JMG Instagram account became one of the fun highlights of my internship experience, adding a dynamic and engaging element to the company’s online presence. Collaborating with my supervisor, Alexandra, made the process so enjoyable. Her guidance and expertise not only extended to story creation but also played a key role in improving my research skills. Alexandra's support transformed the task into a collaborative and creative endeavor, where we brainstormed ideas, explored diverse content, and shared laughs along the way. The graphics we developed not only made the Instagram stories pop but also contributed significantly to my overall graphic skills growth. Another fun highlight were the daily "Sip the Tea" calls, discussing celebrity gossip, food, movies and it helped me get to know the team on a personal level. Lastly, my favorite highlight of this internship was doing it with my best friend, a fellow intern, Andrea. Sharing our experiences with each other throughout this internship not only helped our friendship grow but also our public relations skills that we learned at our university.

From day one, the JMG team has treated me with kindness and respect, emphasizing a strong sense of community. Alexandra’s mentorship played a pivotal role in boosting my confidence and shaping my professional goals.

Interning with JMG solidified my passion for client work and a future in public relations. I express immense gratitude to Jenna for taking a chance on me, Alexandra for guiding me through this journey and to the entire JMG team for their support. This impact on my personal and professional life has been profound. I will forever be grateful!
