Intern Diary: Andrea

As I reflect on the past few months of my internship with JMG Public Relations this Fall, it's hard to believe how quickly time has flown by. The experience has been nothing short of transformative, and I find myself overflowing with gratitude for the incredible journey. The initial excitement and nervousness when I first learned about my internship with JMG are still vivid memories. The virtual world of Zoom calls and digital interactions became the canvas of my professional growth, and I owe a great deal of it to the amazing people at JMG. Kristen, the senior account executive, welcomed me with open arms during our first virtual meeting, instantly alleviating any apprehensions I might have had.

Starting something new isn’t easy for me and I was very nervous going into the first day of orientation. The orientation days created a sense of unity among the interns, assuring us that we were all part of a supportive community. The learning curve was steep, but the team's encouragement turned every challenge into an opportunity for growth. The variety of tasks, from press clippings to client reports, allowed me to develop a diverse skill set that I know will serve me well in my future endeavors.

One aspect of the internship that I cherished was the daily "Sip the Tea" calls. These brief moments of shared pop culture enthusiasm not only added a delightful touch to our routine but also fostered a sense of unity among the team of interns and account executives. I know I wasn't very well-versed in the latest celebrity gossip, but the discussions were always fun and insightful as I would leave the Zoom call with a new celebrity gossip to tell my friends.

From day one, the kindness and respect shown by the entire JMG team made a lasting impression. It reinforced my belief that JMG was not just a workplace; it was a community invested in the growth and well-being of each individual on their team. Kristen, in particular, played a pivotal role in my professional and personal development. Her mentorship gave me the confidence to navigate challenges and embrace opportunities, shaping my aspirations for a future career in public relations.

As this chapter comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible opportunities, and knowledge that have become an integral part of my life. The lessons learned and the bonds formed during this internship will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, and for that, I am truly grateful.

As I step into the future, I am excited about the possibilities that await me in the dynamic field of public relations. The Fall 2023 internship at JMG PR has been more than just a professional experience; it has been a journey of self-discovery, growth, and lasting connections.
