Intern Diary: Elizabeth

Over the summer of 2022, I was eager to find an internship for the fall, that I knew I would thoroughly enjoy. I had goals to learn from leaders who are educated in the field and who also love to have fun in the world of public relations. One day, I came across JMG’s Public Relations Instagram account and did further digging. Their content was fun and exciting, and I became super interested. I then decided to apply for the fall internship, and it was the best decision I could have made!

I began my remote internship with JMG Public Relations at the start of September, and since then I have learned so much when it comes to public relations. My college classes were fantastic, but this internship gave me a true insight into what goes into the everyday work of pr specialists. From forming media lists to pitching, follow-ups, and press releases, I have been given the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and become so much more educated.

JMG, and my AMAZING account executive, have taught me that it is a learning process and that it is okay to make mistakes. They have been patient with us interns and truly loved on us, and taught each of us every step of the way. I came into this internship completely clueless, nervous, and overwhelmed, but that immediately went away after my first day. As this internship comes to an end, I am so glad to be walking away with confidence in all my work, and in my decision to go into the public relations world.

The team at JMG is welcoming, intelligent, funny, and all-around amazing. From the first day, they were kind and open to all I had to say in sip the tea, as well as our wrap-up calls at the end of the day. As this time with JMG has gone by so quickly, I can confidently say this was the best internship for me, and would not have done anything differently!
