Intern Diary: Arcely

Life will always lead you to the path you were meant to go down no matter what obstacles lay in its course. Funny enough, before transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology I majored in biology at SUNY New Paltz. For the longest, I grasped onto the dream of being a doctor until I realized that wasn’t what I wanted for myself. I am currently a senior Marketing and Communication major at FIT.

My time at JMGPR has been nothing short of amazing. Everyone who works there is so knowledgeable on all things PR and so kind. They really put you to work as an intern in the best way possible! There are no mundane tasks, I was working on media lists, news releases, briefing memos, etc… within my first month. I gained so much public relations experience that I genuinely believe couldn’t be found anywhere else.

I’ll be honest, I was nervous about working remotely because I initially felt as though communication would be difficult but my supervisor Kristen was easily accessible throughout the day to answer any questions I may have. The work culture has been amazing and honestly working with a team filled with women has been so empowering and fun. I loved getting to know the ladies throughout my time at JMGPR, they make all the hard work they do look easy.

Overall, I am grateful for my experience at JMGPR and I feel as though I have gained as much experience as possible within my three months working with them. I am so appreciative of Jenna and Kristen for their mentorship and support throughout my internship.
